Neanderthals and sabre-tooth tigers lived side-by-side and waged wars

Experts working on the archaeological site of Schöningen in north-central Germany, have found that humans and the European sabre-toothed cat lived in close proximity, although whether they were our predators or defenders remains unanswered.
