Countdown begins for Pluto-explorer's historic New Year's Eve flyby

New Horizons is now three days, or roughly 2,400,000 miles, from its faraway Kuiper Belt target, Ultima Thule – a mysterious world with ties to the birth of our solar system 4.5 billion years ago.
