The news was confirmed in tonight’s Channel 4 documentary Diana: The Truth Behind the Interview, which featured Princess Diana’s infamous 1995 Panarama interview with the reporter.
Since then, the BBC has sent their well wishes to the star in a statement released to The Mirror.
A spokesperson told the publication: ‘W
