Mad about the girl
Once upon a time in New York, the New Museum organised Bad Girls, a group show that has gone down in feminist art history. Numerous artists in 1994 confronted gender stereotyping and the patriarchy in colourful, subversive and often humorous ways. Portia Munson put feminism into found objects, launching her ongoing Pink Project with a table groaning with pink plastic objects designed to appeal to women.
