My friend Linda Fredericks, who has died aged 76, was an inspiring art teacher and political activist. She was also the founder and president of ArtSway, the first space for contemporary visual arts to be set up in the New Forest, Hampshire.Linda was the daughter of Albert Cane, an engineer and inventor, and his wife, Kay (nee Stammers).
