My wife’s uncle, Hansfried Defet, who has died aged 90, was the founder and driving force behind Da Vinci Künstlerpinselfabrik, the Nuremberg-based manufacturer of high-quality artists’ and cosmetic brushes, a third of which are sold in the UK.
