For KMC polls, 85,000 SIR appeals yet to be disposed of

More than 85,000 appeals from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation area are currently pending before SIR appellate tribunals. Many of these appeals are from deleted voters who were unable to vote in previous elections. The upcoming KMC elections will use the electoral roll published by the Election Commission on July 1. Senior officials have indicated that these issues could prevent many voters from exercising their franchise again.
