Bengal sets up 9-member panel to review UCC bill

A high-level committee has been formed to draft the Uniform Civil Code. Retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai will chair this nine-member committee. The committee will prepare laws on marriage, divorce, and succession for all communities. This move aligns with Article 44 of the Constitution, promoting a unified legal framework. The bill is expected to be introduced in the assembly during the August session.
