Bappaditya Dasgupta in cop net on extortion charge

Kolkata Municipal Corporation councillor Bappaditya Dasgupta was apprehended Saturday night, accused of extortion and conspiracy. He is the sixth KMC councillor arrested recently. His associate, Sourav Ghosh, also detained, reportedly confessed to acting on Dasgupta's orders. Residents protested loudly as Dasgupta was taken into custody, alleging he extorted traders for non-existent shop allocations.
