Shadow IT happens when a company’s employees work in a parallel IT environment without the knowledge of its IT department. It is also called ‘rogue deployment’ or ‘stealth IT’. Employees may use systems, software, or applications the company does not provide. The aim is often to increase efficiency or to save cost.
