Philippines’ DOST transforms farm waste into textile fibres

DOST is converting agricultural fibres in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, into yarn and textile products through training and a local Yarn Production Center.The programme gives rice and vegetable farmers added income beyond crops and connects local fibre extraction with weaving.
PWDs and community weavers are gaining skills as the government pushes local inputs and traditional Filipino designs.
