NHL to end compensation for executives, coaches on Jan. 1

The NHL board of governors has decided to eliminate the controversial executive compensation policy effective Jan. 1, 2016. Under the policy, teams were forced to surrender either a second- or third-round pick when hiring a coach or executive from another team.
