Maple Leafs waive veteran forward Milan Michalek

The Toronto Maple Leafs placed Milan Michalek on waivers Monday and picked up veteran centre Ben Smith. Michalek, acquired from Ottawa last February in the Dion Phaneuf trade, had two points in five games as a member of the Leafs checking unit.
