Wine Guy: Drink outside the bottle

When you pour yourself a glass of soda (or fruit juice, for that matter), do you really care whether it’s served from a bottle or a can? Likely not, so why the obsession with the wine bottle?
The thing is, for all the romanticism bestowed upon the bottle, unless you plan on cellaring your wine the glass vessel itself doesn’t add anything taste-wise. These days, the vast majority of wine sold is consumed shortly after purchase, anyway.
