Re: Incoherent spelling undermines exercise, Daphne Bramham, Oct. 9.
At first, I was as perplexed as columnist Daphne Bramham about the decision to spell renamed landmarks using a “written language” understood by hardly a soul and invented by academics within living memory. Then I realized that there’s not much point to virtue signalling if no one gets it.
There are already plenty of places with First Nations names, spelt phonetically, as you would expect for languages wit
