UBC student found not criminally responsible for assault due to mental disorder

A former UBC student accused of attempting to murder another student in her university dorm has been found guilty of the assault but not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder.
B.C. Supreme Court Justice Margot Fleming delivered her verdict in the case of Thamer Almestadi, an international student from Saudi Arabia, in a Vancouver courtroom Thursday.
