Surrey firefighters battle blaze at abandoned motel

Firefighters battled a blaze that broke out early Sunday at an abandoned motel on King George Boulevard in Surrey.
Surrey Fire Service received the report just after 2:30 a.m. and arrived at the scene to find a one-storey, 5,000-square-foot building in flames.
“It was reported to be not fully involved, but with heavy smoke and flames,” said assistant fire chief David Burns. “Once (crews) accessed it, they reported heavy fire conditions.”
