Runner hit by bus while racing in Vancouver half-marathon

A man was sent to Vancouver General Hospital Sunday morning after he was struck by a transit bus while racing in a half-marathon.
The accident happened around 9 a.m. on Southwest Marine Drive during the 21.5-kilometre Vancouver Fall Classic half-marathon at UBC.
Jon Major, a fellow runner, says the accident occurred 50 feet away from him.
“I didn’t actually see the lead-up to it but I heard the noise,” Major said. “Right away I looked up and saw the bus slam on the brakes
