Patrick McGeer: B.C. should allow public and private health services to exist side by side

The Medicare Protection Act is back in the news. The NDP is threatening to activate amendments to the Act passed in 2003. Their stated purpose is to prosecute extra-billing doctors. Every British Columbian loses if this happens. Patients lose because there is already rationing of medical care and it will only get worse. The public loses because costs that could be covered by the private sector are not being allowed. The situation can be converted to a win for everybody by ignoring the Act. It sh
