Officials considering rescuing ailing killer whale for medical treatment

VANCOUVER — Officials are considering rescuing an extremely ill endangered orca for a hands-on physical exam if she is ultimately separated from her family unit or stranded on a beach because treating her at sea has been unsuccessful.
If the orca known as J50 is rescued, officials say they would focus on giving her medical care and then release the whale back into the wild.
