Letters to The Province, Oct. 16, 2018: Can’t say legalization is ‘success’ until long-term impact known

I wonder if Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee, who says legalization of marijuana in Canada will be a success, took the time to consider the not-so-good effects?
More time away from work on “sick” days, an increase in workers’ compensation claims, and more students dropping out of school. Then there are the harms to brain development in young people.
We should take a more balanced, long-term look at legalized cannabis before declaring it will be a “success.”
