Letters: Increase in electric vehicles will not require a $12-billion dam

The proponents for continuing with construction of the Site C dam often refer to the potential increase in electricity demand required for electric vehicles.
B.C. Hydro estimates that by 2030 there will be 300,000 EVs in B.C., about 10 per cent of registered vehicles. This translates into approximately a three-per-cent demand increase in 13 years. Not much more than a rounding error. Also, advances in battery technology will make EVs more efficient, thus reducing electricity demand.
