There are two kinds of fire burning in the B.C. forest this summer. There is the real fire that has pushed people from their homes and consumed too much of a resource that is precious – to us all – on so many levels. But there is another kind of fire, burning at the border. U.S. protectionists are working to torch Canadian jobs by blocking U.S. imports of our softwood lumber.
My new government has no higher priority than to defeat the actual forest fires, and I have struck a Cabinet
