Former inmates to testify in trial challenging indefinite solitary confinement
VANCOUVER — A civil liberties group that won the right to challenge Canada’s indefinite solitary confinement laws says a trial starting in Vancouver today will hear from former inmates who suffered under “an unconstitutional regime.”
B.C. Civil Liberties Association spokeswoman Caily DiPuma says testimony will come from a woman who spent 3-1/2 years in isolation and a father whose son took his own life in a solitary cell.
