Census: Declining home ownership in suburbs among younger residents mirror national trends

Vancouver has been a city of more renters than owners going back many decades. And between the 2011 and 2016 census numbers on housing released Wednesday, there was a modest increase in the percentage of people who rent in Vancouver that doesn’t speak much to the angst felt in this city over housing unaffordability.
But a drill into the rising number of renters in suburban areas and among certain age groups over a decade reveals how Vancouver, the country’s most expensive real estate
