Census: B.C. Aboriginal population grew 38 per cent over last decade

The Aboriginal population in British Columbia grew 38 per cent over a decade to hit 270,585 in the 2016 census, a growth rate that was more than three times B.C.’s population as a whole, due both to high rates of fertility and an increasing willingness to identify as Indigenous, the latest data released by Statistics Canada shows.
