RCMP Warn Public on Scam Targeting Banking Information

EDMONTON – The RCMP received over 40 reports from people in Alberta who have received phone calls from individuals telling victims that their “social security numbers” are being used for drug activity in Toronto.
The suspects are then asking the victims to press a number to speak with an investigator.
These phone calls are high pressure in nature and the likely goal is for the suspects to obtain personal and banking information from the victims that are being targeted.
