Forest Fire Situation Update Northwest Region June 28, 2018

THUNDER BAY – WILDFIRE Update – There were 16 new fires in the Northwest Region by the afternoon of June 28.  There are 48 active fires in the region, 33 of which are either under control, being held or under observation.
Among the new fires of note in the region are:Sioux Lookout Fire 37 is a 30 hectare, lightning-caused fire approximately nine kilometres west of the remote First Nation community of Sachigo Lake. At the time of this post the fire was not under control.
