Yellowknife drone operator fined, banned from flying

A Yellowknife man is believed to be the first person in the Northwest Territories to be charged with the unsafe operation of a drone, Mounties said this week.
The charge dates back to September last year when several people complained to RCMP of a drone being flown in the area of 54 Street and an area close to the Yellowknife Airport.
Several days after the investigation was launched, Mounties identified the lone operator and charged him with one count of dangerous operation of an aircraft.
