Wednesday's letters: Authorities must ensure right to safety from hate

Re. “Why won’t politicians speak out against hate?,” Opinion, June 24
I would like to commend Nakita Valerio for her pointed, and pertinent, article.
There has been little, if anything, concrete done by governmental bodies to counteract the growing threat of radical, right-wing extremist groups. These so-called “patriot” groups have confused or ignored the definition of free speech.
Free speech is not a licence to spew hatred and vitriol over those whom you dislike
