Watch: Alberta government bans seclusion rooms in schools

Education Minister David Eggen announced the banning of seclusion rooms in schools on Friday, March 1, 2019. The decision will come into effect on Sept. 1 for the 2019-2020 school year.
Eggen is asking school boards to submit a list of schools with a seclusion room which will need to be decommissioned by Aug. 31.  Alberta Education will then inspect and monitor schools to ensure compliance, the government announced via press release.
