Transfusion recipient urges Edmontonians to donate blood during critical shortage

Amid a critical need for blood donations, Hosanna Crowell is nearing her 200th transfusion.
The 11-year-old girl has a rare condition in which her red blood cells are not able to adequately carry oxygen molecules through her body. Hosanna’s mother, Cathy Crowell, said her daughter will require transfusions every few weeks for the rest of her life.
“In one year, we need 40 people to come forward and donate blood, just for our daughter,” she said.
