Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for Edmonton and area

Batten down the hatches; a storm’s a brewin’.
At 1:20 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the capital region, including Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park. According to the national weather watchdog, conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts.
Hail and locally heavy rain are also possible.
