Police to start design for $48-million shooting range, training centre

Edmonton police received initial approval to design a new $48-million live-fire training facility at their northwest campus Thursday. 
The pitch passed without debate at council’s community services meeting. But that’s because the need is obvious, said Coun. Moe Banga, a former police detective.
“I would say it’s necessary. We have increased our sworn police officers by 57 per cent (without increasing capacity at the shooting range),” he said.
