Police identify homicide victim buried under garage

Human remains found buried in a pit about two metres below the concrete floor of a north Edmonton garage have been identified, Edmonton police said Tuesday.
An autopsy conducted by the Edmonton medical examiner identified the remains to be those of Derek James Winnig, 42.
The remains were discovered Sept. 29 near 118 Avenue and 96 Street.
Winning was reported missing to the police in May 2017, according to a news release from the Edmonton Police Service.
