Opinion: Alberta must do more to protect patients from abuse
The College of Physicians and Surgeons recently allowed an Edmonton doctor who was criminally convicted of sexual assault to resume practising medicine. Dr. Ismail Taher inappropriately touched the buttocks and breasts of both an 18-year-old patient and a nurse and physically assaulted a second employee. The college temporarily suspended Dr. Taher’s licence, but he is now practising again, subject to certain conditions.
