No alarms and no surprises as Edmonton Oilers make first deep cuts to training camp roster

I was expecting to write this post on Wednesday morning after the Edmonton Oilers’ second preseason game tonight, but for anybody not on the plane to Vancouver I don’t suppose there was any reason to put off the inevitable. The club announced late this afternoon its first round of professional cuts as 15 players — fully a quarter of those in camp — have been formally reassigned to the Bakersfield Condors.
