New ridings for Edmonton, Calgary, fewer for rural Alberta, Electoral Boundaries Commission recommends

Edmonton, Calgary and the Airdrie-Cochrane area will each get an additional MLA under recommended changes to Alberta’s electoral boundaries.
If the recommendations are adopted, rural Alberta will see three fewer representatives in the legislature under the changes, with ridings consolidated in the province’s central northeast, central west and eastern parts.
