More than double the children at Boyle Street Christmas dinner
Christmas carols and the smell of roast turkey wafted through the main gymnasium of the Boyle Street Plaza on Christmas night Monday.
With the temperature outside dropping to around -27 C, and an extreme cold warning in effect, hungry Edmontonians turned out early for the 4 p.m. dinner.
Organizer Elaine Dyrberg of Thrive Outreach let them in early — it was Christmas, after all, and they were hungry.
More than two hours later, guests were still feasting on meat, buttery spuds and stuffing.
