Late night predatory attacks on hawk nestlings discovered by U of A researchers

Predatory attacks by raccoons and owls on nestlings of North America’s largest hawk could be a factor in the declining population of the threatened species, video evidence from a University of Alberta study suggests. 
Janet Ng, a PhD candidate, said Tuesday the research team was shocked to find these young birds were so vulnerable based on the predatory features of the hawk with an adult wingspan about 1-1/2 metres wide.
