I’ve never agreed with the premise great players in sports need to win championships to cement their legacy.
That’s the goal of every athlete, of course, but teams win championships, not individuals.
Hockey’s best forwards play only 20-22 minutes a game, while the top defenders skate up to 30 minutes. The best forwards watch almost two-thirds of the game from the bench, and if their teammates falter, their chances of winning drop significantly.
Even in basketball, in which the
