Inmate dead at Edmonton Institution, review underway
An inmate at the Edmonton Institution died in custody Friday and Correctional Service Canada is reviewing the death.
Benedict Ralph Corrigal, 58, had been at the prison since May 13, 2015, serving an indeterminate sentence for second-degree murder and manslaughter.
Corrigal, from Hay River, N.W.T., was convicted of killing Carol Buggins and Garfield McPherson on June 27, 2012. Corrigal and Buggins had dated for seven years and he had been violent with her.
