Growing Things: These vegetables will grow best in acidic soil

Q: Really enjoy your column and have for many years. I have a bit of an unusual problem. I just moved into an older home and want to start growing my own vegetables. The backyard of the home did not have any garden, so I dug one in the only spot that is available. Unfortunately, the spot in question was and is covered with pine needles from several pine trees in close proximity.
