First-degree murder charge laid in death near Alberta-Saskatchewan border

A man has been charged with first-degree murder following the death of a woman in an eastern Alberta community.
Elk Point RCMP were called to Fishing Lake Metis Settlement at about noon on Saturday, according to a news release.
When officers arrived at the scene, a woman was already dead.
Marc Jess, 27, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in court in St. Paul on May 31.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place in Edmonton this week.
