Fire in west Edmonton apartment building triggers evacuation

Residents of a west-end apartment building were displaced for the night following a fire Sunday afternoon.
Fire crews were called to the building at 15430 100 Ave. around 4:26 p.m., said Karen Burgess, speaking on behalf of Edmonton Fire Rescue Services.
Firefighters arrived to see flames and smoke billowing out of a second-storey unit in the walkup apartment.
“Crews were targeting an interior attack and they were able to get the fire under control by 4:54 p.m.,” Burgess said. &
