The new temporary emergency shelter off Whyte Avenue is now full to capacity, giving warmth and a mat to 40 people per night and sending them back to the dark streets by 6 a.m.
As people wander the alleys, it looks like downtown. But this crowd is slightly different. They’re more likely to shy away from the label “homeless.” The men in the shelter regularly warn a new city-funded research team: You won’t see me here next month.
