Elderly man found dead by fire crews died before fire broke out

An elderly man found dead when fire crews responded to a blaze at his home died before the fire broke out, Edmonton fire officials say.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services officials released more information Wednesday on the Nov. 3 fire, which happened in Edmonton’s Beaumaris neighbourhood. 
Crews responded to the single-family home at 98 Street and 156 Avenue at 9:47 a.m., after a home caregiver arrived and was unable to enter the home due to heavy smoke.
