Edmonton weather: Thousands of stranded motorists calling for help in extreme cold

Brutal cold across Alberta is stranding motorists and causing traffic headaches as troubles mount with the prolonged cold snap.
The Alberta Motor Association said Tuesday it has answered a record number of calls for help, with more than 31,000 requests for roadside assistance provincewide since Sunday. Dead batteries are a major culprit, with calls for a boost in rural Alberta up nearly nine times the average, and Edmonton and Calgary seeing more than five times the typical call volume. The orga
