Edmonton Humane Society will stop enforcement on animal abuse

The Edmonton Humane Society’s board of directors has voted to end enforcement of the Animal Protection Act (APA) at the end of January, with no governing agency named to take over.
The humane society has been providing enforcement services within the city funded through donations and a city grant, but without any provincial funding, the society said in a news release Tuesday. The decision to withdraw enforcement services was made in early December 2018.
