Driver flees scene after crash causes significant damage to Highway 16 overpass near Wabamun

The eastbound lane of Highway 16 en route to Edmonton is closed near Wabamun as police investigate a hit and run crash into an overpass causing structural damage to the bridge.
Officers were called to the Wabamun overpass on the Yellowhead Highway around 10 p.m. Wednesday evening for reports of a traffic hazard, RCMP said in a news release Thursday.
Upon arrival, RCMP found what they believe to be a piece of a crane boom lying in the eastbound lane. Police believe an oversized load or a vehicle
